This year's Unity Day was full of sunshine and good vibes. It saw thousands of people come to Hyde Park/Woodhouse Moor in Leeds to eat, drink, dance, and generally have a good time together.

The community event, which has been running for 15 years, was host to some ace music as well as information and campaigns from various local groups.
Royal Park Community Centre project were showing off new plans which they've drawn up to persuade those council bods to hand the Royal Park School building over to them for community use. If you're interested in joining the campaign and taking an active part in securing a useful community space in the Hyde Park area of Leeds then email them at volunteer@royalparkschool.org
Bradford Against Racism took the opportunity to spread the word about local resistance to racism, and in particular, against the EDL march which was scheduled for the 28th August, but has since been ‘banned' (protests are still permitted, but must be static, so i guess they'll still turn up).
Leeds Urban Harvest, which was inspired by Sheffield's Abundance project, shared some of their recent food foraging treasure and collected information about local fruit trees. They will later have organised parties of volunteers to harvest the fruit, with permission from the land owner if appropriate, and given to groups volunteers and the local community. yum!
Leeds Palestine Solidarity Group had delicious Palestinian goods and information about their solidarity campaign.
All in all, a great time was had by all and we're looking forward to next year already!
