From www.royalparkschool.org:
Following years of struggle, the Royal Park Community Consortium presented a bid to the Council to run Royal Park School as a Community Centre.
However, despite having a good self-sufficient, sustainable project, the Council is recommending to dismiss the RPCC bid and accept that of a private developer that would see the old Victorian school become about 35 student flats and commercial spaces.
In an area like Hyde Park where there are more than 4000 empty student rooms there is no need for more student flats. Moreover, the council issued a policy for the areas of Headingley, Hyde Park, Woodhouse and some others around them that call to stop new student flat buildings.
