Members of Medact and Medsin including Doctors, psychologists, pharmacists and medical students held banners and talked to the public about the relationship between climate change and health. They distributed prescriptions for a healthy planet.
Health and Climate Change are inextricably linked. Climate change is considered the greatest threat to world health through flooding, drought, famine and spread of infectious diseases. Many of the lifestyle changes which will reduce carbon use and dependence are known to improve health.
"By making healthy choices such as eating less meat, using active transport such as walking or cycling rather then cars or planes, and insulating our homes we can reduce carbon use too. This will have the double benefit of being good for our health and our planet." Amy Carson, Medical student.
"Personal carbon reduction is important but it is only part of the plan. If we do not have a global deal on climate change today there will be huge global impacts on health." Dr Natasha Gordon, Leeds GP
