: Guardian: Yarl's Wood doctors could be struck off

Tagged as: migration repression

Following numerous complaints about the poor standards of health care provded by Serco, the company that runs Yarl's Wood, 3 medical staff who work there have been referred to the GMC, the body that regulates doctors.

There is a burgeoning body of evidence, much of it produced by volunteer doctors who visit Yarl's Wood to document what goes on there, that basic health-care is routinely below NHS standards. In some cases, the failures of care are so severe that they amount to breaches of the Human Rights act, as well as the doctor's moral and professional obligations to place the best interests of their patients above all other considerations.
