Hebden Bridge Transition Town Launch

Hebden Bridge Transition Town is joining a growing global Transition Network when it officially launches on 29th and 30th May, To celebrate the launch, a Transition Zone is being organised which will be a temporary practical experiment of resilience and sustainability. The launch will also be the start of Hebden Bridge creating its own energy descent plan for the town with the involvement of local people and groups, the council, schools and businesses.

As part of the Big Green Weekend 2010 Transition Town Hebden Bridge is counting down to The Actual launch, which will run from 2.00 until 5.30pm on Sunday30th. We begin with speakers including: Lancaster Transition Town on their own experiences. Dr Simon Lewis on climate change and peak oil and positive community responses & Jamie Saunders on futures, transition & permaculture. Then we will break into Practical Working Groups in areas of Food, Energy, Transport, Waste, Education, Economy and Health discussing: What will sustainable solutions for Hebden Bridge look like?, before we all come back together for our closing party.
