“Torture and De-Humanisation - Lessons From the War on Terror”
A lecture followed by discussion at the Manchester Metropolitan University in association with the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture.
Craig Murray, now Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Lancaster School of Law, was dismissed in October 2004 from his post of British Ambassador to Uzbekistan for making public his objection to Britain accepting intelligence from the authorities in that country where torture and transgression of human rights are commonplace. His book "Murder in Samarkand" and a BBC radio 4 play by David Hare, broadcast in February, tell of his Uzbekistan experiences.
