BRADFORD GETS READY - CREATIVE CAMPAIGNING FOR AWE


Background -

AWE Aldermaston is ploughing ahead with a new generation of nuclear warheads for the UK. This, without democratic consultation, owned and operated by a consortium of American owned multinationals, under a pretense of 'deterrence' that looms over us as if the cold war was still happening. CND and Trident Ploughshares have been doing brilliant work in campaigning against these atrocious weapons. Last year 300 people helped shut down access to the base. This year, with a backdrop of international non-proliferation and the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty review conference on the horizon, we expect it to be even more. The blockade takes place on the 15th Feb 2010 - Please come and join in. You can sit, lie down, lock-on or simply provide support for those blockading. We need your committed nonviolent civil resistance.

Bradford -
We've had two brilliant NVDA training sessions here in Bradford and people are currently getting into affinity groups to take action against nuclear weapons. This Saturday, the 23rd, is the last chance for people to express an interest in attending the blockade as part of our affinity groups. We can organize transport and places to stay but NEED your firm bookings, along with deposits for the bus by this Sat.

The 23rd -
3pm onwards - Bradford Centre for Non-Violence / Treehouse Cafe.
Banner making, creative preparation, legal briefing, role decisions and other prep will all take place! It will be a fun, practical day to help us all get ready for the 15th. Again- You NEED to either pop down and tell us you are coming if you want a space on the bus, or email zna@riseup.net if you really cannot attend but still want to travel down with us.
