This event is for groups and individuals involved in resisting deportations. It will include an overview of the asylum system and comprehensive training on how to plan, launch and run an effective anti-deportation campaign.

Drawing on 15 years of NCADC work and with input from campaigners in the North East and Scotland, the training day aims to share knowledge, skills and experience for current and future anti-deportation campaigns.

Some participants will go on to become anti-deportation trainers for their organisation or in their community. Others will find their own campaigns strengthened.

We will look at:

  • The asylum system: how it works and what to do when it fails
  • Planning, launching and running a campaign
  • The roles of solicitors and supporters Involving politicians
  • Dealing with the media
  • Having a local /regional campaign network
  • Running your own training workshops

Participants should be:

  • A person facing deportation or working directly with those facing deportation
  • Familiar with the basics of the asylum process and the experience of those facing deportation
  • Committed to passing on and disseminating what you gain in the workshop
  • Interested in the possibility of a regional anti-deportation network

This event is free, but places are limited. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for people who are seeking asylum. Lunch will be provided
