Following our last action group meeting on 20th May, we have revised the boundaries for our proposed Central Bradford Community Council so it focuses on a much smaller area, covering the shopping district, university quarter and nearly all city centre flats.

We now need to concentrate on collecting a petition of at least 10% of registered voters in this area to trigger the legal process that will ultimately lead to the community council being set up. A link to a map of the new boundaries is attached to this posting along with a petition we are using asa pdf file.

We are also looking at putting up a campaign website and organising a launch event for September.

Our next action group meeting will take place on the evening of Thursday 6th June, 7pm to 9pm, in the Mabel Booth Room at Bradford CVS, 19-25 Sunbridge Road. Anybody who is interested in our campaign is welcome to come along.

If you cannot attend but would like to help collect the petition then please contact Jonathan Crewdson using mail@neighbourhoodventures.org.uk for guidance about this. The template petition would need to be printed off and actual signatures collected as this cannot be submitted electronically. You would also need to make sure only people who live in the area on the map and who are registered to vote sign as other people's signatures will not count towards the 10% we need.
