The last few months have seen growing opposition to G4S' role in human rights abuses:

• Occupation of the G4S London HQ

• Boycotted by Good Energy

• A hard-hitting report on their provision of asylum slum housing in North East and Yorkshire

• Voted third worst in international ‘worst company of the year’ awards

• Called to account for their role in the death of Palestinian prisoner Arafat Jaradat

Now is the time to build on this campaigning with the first Stop G4S North East organising meeting Saturday May 18th at the Star and Shadow cinema.

Please join us, Newcastle Palestine Solidarity Campaign, migrant support groups, human rights campaigners, trade unions, grassroots organisations and faith groups for a discussion dedicated to developing the campaign - as part of the UK Stop G4S coalition - against G4S in the NE and prevent them from putting profit before people. Our NE campaign will be non-hierarchical and inclusive.

G4S has a documented track record of human rights abuses but is set to be one of the primary beneficiaries of the government’s privatisation agenda. No public service is safe: the Probation Service and the NHS are both the subject of market-led outsourcing plans.

Calls for an independent enquiry into G4S and UKBA's handling of a major migrant housing contract have reached parliament. G4S and its housing partners have committed flagrant acts of abuse: families have been torn from their support networks, a mother and baby forced into a flat unfit for human habitation. In Stockton, G4S has provided accommodation not seen since “Cathy Come Home”.

As Palestinian prisoners continue their hunger strike in G4S equipped Israeli prisons, the torture and death of Arafat Jaradat has seen them accused of complicity in Israel's violations of international law. The expansion of illegal settlements East Jerusalem will be watched over by the G4S equipped Israeli Police HQ.

The Stop G4S campaign is growing as people of conscience realise what this toxic company is capable of but we need your involvement too. Join is for an afternoon of campaign planning.
