We will be showing Channel 4's film 'Consent', with a discussion after.
"Unique drama from BAFTA-winning director Brian Hill. Consent brings viewers up as close as possible to how a real rape trial works, blending scripted drama with true-to-life courtroom procedures."
An ideal film for those intersted in Law.
Synopsis:
"Work colleagues Becky and Steve are typical twenty-somethings: ambitious, attractive and both climbing the career ladder in a small but friendly IT company. One night, they are invited to a client party at an upmarket hotel. Their host has arranged free-flowing vodka and champagne as well as accommodation for the night, and the two colleagues enjoy the high-spirited bash.
When the heel on Becky's shoe breaks, she heads up to her hotel room. Steve follows her and they begin to kiss. But what happens next? She claims that she was raped and he is prosecuted for rape; he claims that it was consensual.
Consent then shifts to a real courtroom setting. Everyone involved knows that this is a fictional case but the trial is conducted as if it were real."
