Leeds Zine Fair
Sunday 4th November
Wharf Chambers, 23-25 Wharf Street, LS2 7EQ.
12am - 6pm + evening gig + food
Free Entry
The Leeds Zine Fair is a celebration of zines, self publishing, radical politics and DIY culture. There is masses going on with stalls, workshops, a Zine in a Day, exhibitions, have-a-go letterpress printing, bands including zinesters on tour from the USA and more!
The Leeds Zine Fair is being organised by Footprint - Leeds' zine-happy radical printing co-operative and hosted by Wharf Chambers - Leeds' city centre DIY gig venue that's also a co-operative.
If you'd like to do a workshop, or have any questions or suggestions, do drop us a line or give us a call on 0113 262 4408. We're instigating this but it's a DIY event, it'll be as good as the punters make it!

We've got a whole host of workshops, exhibits and stuff to get involved in at the zine fair. The programme's still being developed so get in touch if you want to get involved.
There will, as you'd expect, be stalls selling zines, but we want there to be lots more too...
Can we make a whole zine together in one day before the zine fair is over? You bet we can!
Footprint have been taking their risograph printer and booklet maker up and down the country to zine fairs to make a zine in a day where all the stall holders and punters are invited to create a page for the zine and it gets printed, collated, folded, stapled and arrives in your hand by the end of the day. Would be crazy not to do one in Leeds at the zine fair they are organising. So create yourself a page and gt involved in putting the zine together.
Shape & Situate is a zine of posters made by artists and DIY creative folk from within Europe, each poster highlighting the (often hidden) history and lives of radical inspirational women and collectives from Europe.
Have-a-go Letterpress Printing
The Print Project will be bringing their antiquated printing equipment down to let people try their hands at letterpress printing. Dont miss it!
Self-Publishers of the World Take Over
Salford Zine Library will be showing their film "Self-Publishers of the World Take Over".
Remembering Who We Are Workshop
Remembering Who We Are with Melanie Maddison and Lindsay Starbuck - exploring artistic and creative sociopolitical memory.
A talk, resource archive and participatory zine-making workshop.
We would like to use the Leeds Zine Fair as an opportunity to have a conversation about the role, importance, and act of creative sociopolitical history projects. We will be hosting a collection of resources from social history art, poster and zine projects for everyone to explore. Inspirational work will be featured from projects such as: Celebrate People's History, Occuprint, Inspired Agitators, Dead Feminists, Peops, Shape & Situate, Caged Bird Club, Firebrands: Portraits of the Americas, plus many more.
A hit at the 2010 Zine Fair, bring along one of your zines to read from or just listen in.
On top of all of that there's going to be...
A ‘one-off' stall for zinesters who don't need a whole table. Just bring along your one or two and there's free space for you to flog your wares. If you'd like to do a short shift staffing that table it'd be good, but if not you're just as welcome to put your zines on it.
Lots of vegan cakes and food to keep you going from the Wharf Chambers Cafe Collective
Workshops on technical stuff to do with practicalities and printing, but also on other DIY activities and politics too. No matter what's in it, every zine is political in the way it takes control and doesn't seek to maximise market share or pander to advertisers. We'll certainly be doing a workshop on how to set up a workers' co-operative, taking control of your workplace and living without bosses.
Then at 6pm we shut the zine fair and open the bar until 11pm*. There'll be bands including The Copyscams, Endless Rope, Jesus and his Judgemental Father, Radio Partizan and MC Positive Bastard.
