The Centre for Canadian Studies Film Group, 'Rediscovering Canada,' is pleased to invite you to its last screening for the university year:'The Red Violin/Le violon rouge' (1998). It will take place at the
Leeds Business School in Seminar Room 1.33 on Monday, 30th April from 17:30-20:00. The event is free, there will be a short discussion afterwards, and there are subtitles.
'The Red Violin', directed by François Girard, is a dramatic multi-lingual extravaganza. It spans four centuries, five languages and five countries as it tells the story of a mysterious violin and its life of passion and danger with owners including monks, aristocrats, gypsies and revolutionaries. The film was an international co-production between companies in Canada, Italy and the United Kingdom, starring Samuel L Jackson, Colm Feore, Greta Scacchi, and Sandra Oh among others. It has won numerous awards, including an
