Will the sun shine?
Will the giant Monopoly game make an appearance?
Will the Haymarket Martyrs attend?
Dancing around the Maypole? A march?
What happens at Mayday 2012 will be decided by the people who do the legwork and make the thing happen – stalls, artistes, stage crew, campaigners, poets, rappers, rockers, folkies, and even those shoppers who’ve got slightly lost.
There have been a couple of meetings already attended by some of last year’s participants, and we’ve scandalously declared Sat 28th April to be Mayday in Bradford, in 2012.
We didn’t fancy the Tuesday 1st, or Monday 6th May. Let’s not get hung up on the whole April thing, hey?
If you want to get involved in the planning we’ve got a meeting at the 1in12 Club in Albion Street at 6.00 on Tuesday 20th March.
Don’t worry if you’ve missed it, or can’t make it, there’ll be further meetings announced on the email list, to which you can subscribe by visiting this website:
https://lists.aktivix.org/mailman/listinfo/reclaimmayday
or emailing this address:
reclaimayday@lists.aktivix.org .
You can also visit the Facebook group (cough!) by doing a search for “Bradford Mayday” and contribute that way. Despite the impression you might get from some of these pictures, Bradford Mayday is a shoestring operation organized by ordinary folk from Bradford, and we desperately need your participation or, failing that, some money to pay for the toilets.
