With the recent spate of aggression and arrests towards peaceful
protesters (UK UnCut) and the disproportionate political sentencing of
the students from the Millbank demonstrations and from March 26^th , it
is becoming increasingly clear that we must look after ourselves and
anybody else that we are encouraging to participate when we attend
protests and demonstrations.

With this in mind, the Bradford People's Coalition Against Cuts, in
conjunction with Bradford Student Solidarity, have organised a short
workshop run by Oaks, a member of the Climate Camp legal team,
(http://climatecamp.org.uk/get-involved/working-groups/legal), so that
you know your rights whilst you are out on the streets -- what you can
and cannot be asked to do; a brief on the powers that the police have;
and a guide to what to do and say if you do get arrested for anything.

The workshop will be free to attend and no booking is required - just turn up on the day (preferably slightly earlier than the 12 midday advertised start time).

This workshop will be beneficial for:-

  *

individuals that are relatively new to protest and are worried about the possibility of
    arrest

  *

anti-cuts groups that may be planning direct or indirect action

  *

    students groups

  *

seasoned activists / protesters who may have an interest in
obtaining further legal information or would like further
information on becoming a legal observer.
