Reading Group on
Science and Capitalism
As the British Science Festival visits Bradford we will be holding a reading group on the subject of science and capitalism. You are welcome to read anything on the subject, we will then share what we have read and use that as a starting point for an informal group discussion.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the reading group. Even if you haven't read anything on the subject, please come along and have a listen to what others have been reading about anyway, it will be fun and informal.
The 1in12 is a members club based on the principles of Liberty, Equality and Solidarity. It has a strong history of members challenging the status quo, pursuing radical change, and fighting capitalism. Conventional science is not not immune from the corruption of capitalism like any of the other political struggles that we face. We hope this will be a safe space to explore ideas of how science as an industry affects global society and the environment.
Although the 1in12 Bar will be open (on a different floor to the reading group) this will be an alcohol free event. You are welcome to visit the bar after the reading group for drinks. The bar is open to members and guests.
