Saltburn social justice party starters launch a brand new, regular free film night, monthly at The Marine on Wednesday nights. Showing a range of alternative and independant films, covering human rights, social justice and environmental issues and themes. All free of charge (donations welcome) and opportunity for open discussion afterwards.

Our first screening of "The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil" is in The Marine, Saltburn on Wednesday August 17th, Doors 7pm Film starts 7:30pm.

The film is about how Cuba, an isolated island nation, rebuilt its quality of life following the collapse of cheap oil, supplied by the former Soviet Union. This fascinating and empowering film shows how communities pulled together, created solutions, and ultimately thrived in spite of their decreased dependence on imported energy.

.."Their stories serve as a valuable model for a world facing Peak Oil on a global scale. Cuba’s transition to a low-energy society is hopeful and instructive" - .Janaia Donaldson,
