Latest news:
We now have almost twenty stalls booked. There is space for more and we are still seeking local people selling interesting and unusual music, clothes, books, shoes, furniture, homewares, etc..

The Shipley Alternative
A new indy market aimed at bringing something a bit different to Shipley. It’s part of our support for local people and community organistions who want to try their hand at trading.

We have space for about twenty stalls offering a diverse mix of handmade, recycled and locally made goods as well as all sorts of things not available in Shipley – anything from clothing, music, books to homemade cakes, locally produced food and fair trade goods.
The venue is wheelchair and buggy friendly.

Interested in getting involved?
The Shipley Alternative will be run collectively by the Kirkgate Centre, interested stall holders and café volunteers. Please get in touch if you’d like to get involved in making this project happen.

A new community café
We aim to run a quality cafe serving fresh food. We have a well equipped kitchen, including an espresso machine, and are looking for creative volunteers to help create a Shipley community café. All proceeds from the café will be used to support the market and other Kirkgate Centre projects.

Want to be a stall holder?
We are looking for stall holders with creative ideas - please contact the Kirkgate Centre for details. There will be a fee of around £5 for each stall at each event to help cover costs. You can apply for a stall by clicking here.

We want The Shipley Alternative to bring something new to Shipley. Shipley has more than its fair share of charity shops so no jumble or bric-a-brac please. We also don’t want duplicate the few market traders and independent shop owners left in the town centre.

Smallprint
We reserve the right to refuse any stall. Please note that campaigning stalls are welcome, but the promotion of religion or political parties is not.
