June 30 is about raising awareness of the attacks on public services and public servants' pensions, so here's the plan: In order to show solidarity, and to demonstrate to the public that there is popular support for the strikes, Leeds uncut will do their usual thing - we'll be picketing Vodafone. There'll be a few placards to share out but please also bring your own with messages like 'cut tax dodging not public services' , 'taxpayers against cuts' and 'UK Uncut - supporting the strikes' etc.
Whilst we'll want to draw public attention as usual to the tax dodging exploits on the high street, our key message of the day will be 'vodafone's personal tax bill would cover every single public service pension for a year - which is why we're supporting the strikes'
So here's what you could do: Join a picket line first thing in the morning, either at Leeds Met, at your local school, or any other picket that you know of. Then Join the march from Leeds Met to the city square (check around for the details) or join Leeds Uncut outside vodafone at 10am, before we join the rally in city square at noon.
The action is a picket - please be ready to hand out our flyers & wave placards, and we could also do with some confident people who can engage passers-by to let them know exactly why we're there.
So: meet outside Avoidafone at the top of Briggate from 10 am onwards through until about 11.45am.
