On Saturday May 7th 2011 Manchester Feminist Network will host a gathering for women in Manchester. We intend for the day to be accessible to all women. This is a grass roots interactive day where we will provide opportunities for women to learn from each other, make contacts and maybe friends!
Some of the workshops we have planned are: Child-free by choice; Women and The Cuts; Feminism and Sexuality; Arts & Crafts; Global Wom...en's Struggles; Self-esteem; Abortion rights; Prostitution; African dance; the Politics of Periods! Full programme to be posted soon. We also have the powerful WAST (Women Asylum Seekers Together) choir performing.
There will be info stalls, a bookstall by News from Nowhere, veggie food & vegan cakes. We are asking for women to pay £5 or £10 towards the cost of the day, depending on income but it is free to asylum seekers/women with no income.
There will be a creche/childrens play room. Friends Meeting House is wheelchair accessible but please let us know if you have particular access needs.
In the evening we have hired an accessible room in a bar for socialising and maybe a bit of dancing if we still have the energy!
