Against all cuts

This Saturday (Feb 19th) York Stop the Cuts have called a demonstration to say “no to cuts and privatisation”, and “come together as a community to reject the cuts agenda”. But demonstrating is not enough - only an organised campaign of direct action by working class people will reverse the coalition’s policy of cuts, job losses and austerity. In York, the city council is currently preparing to unveil its new budget, which is likely to include swingeing cuts to jobs and public services. These cuts are an attack on working class people, in the interests of the rich and the powerful.

Fighting back

York Anarchists are calling for a Radical Workers Bloc on the demonstration. We oppose all job losses and all public service cuts, and call for independent working class action to beat the government’s austerity programme: strikes, occupations, economic blockades, civil disobedience; these tactics work, so let’s use them! By building up resistance locally, in our workplaces and our communities, we can defend ourselves against these damaging cuts.

Join us!

Come to the march on February 19th, and show York City Council that working people in this city aren’t going to accept these cuts without a fight. We’ll be meeting at 3:00 in Parliament Street, by the fountain - look out for the red and black flags.

More Cuts Now!

Anarchists believe the State (national and local)is an enemy of free society and social cooperation. The more cuts the better - why should we be forced to pay taxes and rates for teh State to dole out as it pleases? Anarchists should welcome cuts in State "services" not ape the unthinking Left in defending the existing state structure. Wake up and think - don't just tail-end the Trots.
