The Green Phoenix Festival, due to take place from 19th-22nd August 2010 near Newcastle, has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

The festival organisers sent an email earlier today to stall-holders and other people who should have been working at the festival. It was stated that due to poorer than expected ticket sales, it had become necessary to cancel the festival. This comes as sad news for many people, including some who were looking forward to visiting Green Phoenix instead of the Northern Green Gathering, which isn't running this year.

Some people have expressed the view that the poor ticket sales could be because the price for tickets was set too high for many of us to come.

At the time of writing, the festival website is showing the following message. "Dear Festival Friends, we are aware that you are unable to buy tickets this evening. There will be a news update here for you in the morning. With warmest wishes, Green Phoenix Festival."
