Newcastle’s city centre is tired and worn-out - there are clearly too many cars jostling for tight space and cyclists get squashed every time. Cycling in our city is more than unpleasant – it's a downright dangerous activity.
A recent cycling petition to improve cycling condition in the city centre counted over 800 supporters. The petition has been formally handed over to our city’s council on 2 June 2010. I reckon though, in order to speed up the change process a little bit - a more radical approach is required…
So, building on Katja’s sterling work with the cycling petition, I (Ms Piggy – call me Pi) would like to suggest that what our toon now needs is a proper, well-advertised, regular Critical Mass ride. I shall call it Cycling with Ms Piggy!

Let’s meet at Haymarket on every last Friday of the month at 17:30 and take to the road. Reclaim the streets! After all boosting cycling is a win-win, it saves money, it’s healthy, it’s fast, it’s reliable, it’s good for you – and the environment!
