Imagine you are looking for goods online, what's your number one priority? The first guess is high quality combined with low price. Finding this mix is sometimes challenging because you need to browse to different e-commerce sites and vendors' pages on the Internet.

There are apps out there that are designed to display the sought-for information in place, which is a nice thing to have at one's fingertips. Some programs, however, awfully overact while providing this feature, like the MacitNow add-on. It is created to run on Mac boxes, more specifically on web browsers compatible with Mac OS X, including Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Where the marketed goals of this application are about facilitating the process of scouting for discounts and freebies, it affects the browsers badly.

Installation-wise, MacitNow is backed by third party utilities whose setup workflow is in cahoots with the adware. In particular, some uncertified software updates, free OS maintenance solutions and file download clients contains the malefic payload by default. The only way to exclude the questionable drive-by out of the installation is to select custom setup and uncheck the suggested items. That's not always the case, though. Anyway, the architecture of this bundling process is meant to deliver the adware to Macs without properly notifying the admin.

The above stealthy routine is followed by MacitNow adding its extension to browsers. The add-on bypasses the permissions granting phase and makes changes to the way sites are presented to the user. Web pages become stuffed with price comparisons, coupons and similar ads. Also, some text appears linked with merchant resources. All of this superfluous content makes websites load longer and may overlay the original objects, making web surfing less informative and irritating.

The only way to make the unwanted ads vanish is to uninstall the MacitNow malicious extension. Since some hurdles tend to accompany this process, Mac users should adopt a special troubleshooting procedure to get the job done.
