Housing Co-ops in Bradford are looking for new members and are inviting those who are interested in radical social change and co-operative living to get in touch.

The Hive Housing Co-Op and Branches Housing Co-Op are both looking for new members to join their projects and live in a co-operative space.

Branches was started 4 years ago by a large group of activists looking for a better way to live together.  We now rent a house near the university and college. We want to live, work and play somewhere we can afford, somewhere we know is safe and somewhere we can interact with the community around us to make it better. Everyone who lives in Branches is committed to social change and we each spend time doing this. Some of us spend time working with asylum seekers, or in international solidarity groups, while others are involved with the Treehouse Café and shop. We have strong links with the 1in12 club and in the past many have been part of anti-nuclear/anti-militaristic campaigning.
Branches is looking for new members who are committed to radical social change and excited and energised by the reality of buying a house as a co-operative.

The Hive was started about 15 years ago and owns a large house very close to the city centre. With a loan agreed for a new wood powered heating system, this co-op needs some new members to fill current gaps and get stuck in with some fun DIY to radically change the way we live for the better.
The Hive has a shared belief in social change through grassroots action (solidarity campaigns, housing and student rights, community food growing and catering...) and of course, co-operation!

Both Branches and the Hive are members of Radical Routes, which is a network of radical co-ops whose members are committed to working for positive social change. Four times a year the network meets up at ‘gatherings'. These weekend events have a social function, but are also the places at which all important decisions are taken. In between these gatherings member co-ops take on work commitments to benefit the network or co-operative movement as a whole. Individual members are expected to take part in this work for Radical Routes.
