LET'S PLAY DARTS!!!
Saturday 29th January 2011 saw the 4th Annual "Darts to an end" tournament held at the 1in12 club in Bradford which drew competitors and spectators from across the North of England. The much revered silver cup was won in theatrical style amid a haze of buckfast and cocktail fuelled shenanigans, which more than made up for the slightly more low key nature of this years event.

Kicking off the event to the Bullseye theme tune the compere for the evening, complete with bow tie and dinner jacket, kept the audience entertained as the draw for the first round was announced. Many of the competitors were wearing customised shirts emblazoned with their darts nicknames and each chose a "theme tune" to introduce them during their games.
As the initial 26 entrants were whittled down during the course of the evening, the beer was flowing freely meaning that in later stages of the tournament some were finding it increasingly difficult to see the board during their games. All the spectators were in high spirits and many were drinking elaborate cocktails made specially for the event. Though fiercely contested, a remarkable amount of good natured camerarderie and mutual support marked the event out as being a long way off the usual nature of many sporting activities.
The attendees were a good mix of young and old members, some with a full 30 years of club membership behind them and so the event was as much about building links and friendships as it was about darts. As the championship drew to a close and the winner lifted the cup, there followed a punk disco which went on well into the night (until people finally lost the ability to stand up let alone dance).
Next year will be the 5th anniversary of the tournament, organised by the people behind the "Means to an End" hardcore punk festival also held at the club, and promises to be an extra special one.
