Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! North East created on 08/09/09

Group of activists organising around the newspaper Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism!, which is produced by the Revolutionary Communist Group. Currently our main areas of work in the region include organising against deportations, immigration detention and all immigration controls, against the Welfare Reform Bill and other attacks on access to welfare, and in solidarity with the liberation struggle of the Palestinian people and the Cuban Revolution. Within the North East we are most active in Newcastle and Sunderland, but have also contributed to actions in Durham and Teeside.

In all of our work, independently as FRFI and as part of wider campaigns, we argue for the necessity of international unity amongst working class and oppressed people, on an anti-racist basis. In our participation in campaigns, whether TCAR, Palestine solidarity or welfare rights, we have fought consistently against censorship or organisational control by any one organisation, and for democratic and inclusive ways of organising. We have provided campaigning resources free and without conditions to a wide range of progressive initiatives. We have struggled with some success to break the grip held over emerging movements by the Labour Party left and their allies and apologists.
